Late Shri Jagadish Das, founder of SIKHA ELECTRIC STORES
Founder & guiding forceLate Shri Jagadish DasVeteran Class-I Electrical Contractor · Founder, SIKHA ELECTRIC STORES

The story of SIKHA ELECTRIC STORES is, above all, the story of the vision, courage and lifetime of work of its founder, Late Shri Jagadish Das.

He began his professional journey in the early 1960s as a freelance lineman and electrician. Starting with skill, determination and a personal reputation for dependable work, he steadily built the foundation of an enterprise that would serve some of eastern India’s most important public infrastructure organisations.

The early 1970s were a defining period of struggle. With very limited resources, he established a tiny office in a maintenance room at Lohia Market, H.B. Road, Fancy Bazar, Guwahati. It was a modest beginning, but it gave his ambition a permanent address. He continued to work personally in the field, solving electrical problems, supervising work and earning opportunities through reliability rather than privilege.

There was no large establishment behind him—only practical knowledge, courage and the willingness to accept hard work. Every completed assignment helped him purchase better tools, support a growing team and strengthen the trust of clients. He built the enterprise patiently, one relationship and one successfully delivered work at a time, transforming years of hardship into a respected contracting legacy.

In 1980, Shri Jagadish Das formally established SIKHA ELECTRIC STORES in Guwahati as a proprietary Class-I electrical contracting firm. Over the decades, he became a respected veteran contractor, successfully undertaking works for N.F. Railway, AEGCL, TSECL, BSPTCL and other major government and utility organisations. His field knowledge, professional discipline and commitment to completing difficult works earned the firm enduring trust.
